How Much Does It Cost to Drill a Well in NC?

Why “per-foot” quotes can mislead — and how to get a real number.

The honest answer: it depends on depth

The biggest cost driver is how deep we have to drill to reach a reliable supply, which depends on your local geology. Many North Carolina residential wells land in the few-hundred-foot range, but only a site evaluation tells you your number.

What a complete estimate should cover

  • Drilling and steel or PVC casing
  • Grouting (protects your water from surface contamination)
  • A properly sized pump and pressure tank
  • A water-quality test on completion

Be wary of a low per-foot headline rate that doesn’t include the pump, tank, and permit — those make up most of the job. Ask for one all-in written estimate.

Permitting

A licensed driller pulls the well permit and builds to North Carolina standards, including proper casing and grouting. We handle that for you.
